Who Needs The Longsuffering Of God? • What do we mean by “longsuffering?” – Romans 2:4 • Makrothumia - “a) patience, endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance. b) patience, forbearance, longsuffering, slowness in avenging wrongs. - Thayer • All sinful men need the longsuffering of God!

Who Needs The Longsuffering Of God? • Men refuse to see God’s righteousness and minimize their own sins- Romans 3:23-26 • Every man on earth needs it, both righteous and unrighteous • When a man appears before God he becomes aware of his sin and the need of longsuffering & forgiveness – Isaiah 6:5-7

  4. The Fruits Of The Longsuffering of God • Produces gratitude & humility – 1 Timothy 1:15,16 • What if God gave us what we deserved immediately? • What if the Lord had returned in December 2017? • What if He came TODAY? 2 Peter 3:9

The Fruits Of The Longsuffering of God • Am I only deferring His anger or am I having in quenched? – Romans 2:3,4 • Some view God as they would man… delay means weakness • It produces change & growth in men – 1 Timothy 1:12-16 • Produces confidence in the justice of God – 2 Corinthians 5:10; Isaiah 48:9; Romans 2:5 • Makes aware of the providence of God- Romans 9:22,23

The Fruits Of Our Own Longsuffering • Longsuffering is a sign of real maturity • It is a part of the fruit of the spirit – Galatians 5:22,23 • A product of faith – Colossians 1:11; 3:8-14 • Essential for growthy of Christians & the church – Ephesians 4:1,2 • Longsuffering must abound in those who teach – 2 Timothy 4:1,2

The Fruits Of Our Own Longsuffering • Must make judgement in those we try to restore- Jude 22-23 • Longsuffering in my life will have an influence on others- 2 Timothy 3:10-12; Romans 12:17-21 • Longsuffering is essential for our salvation – 2 Peter 3:14,15 • Let God’s Longsuffering cause you to be urgent – 2 Corinthians 6:2
