  2. Whether it’s local search, organic search, or paid search, in general the search engines are assessing your online information (your listings, your website, reviews etc.) for: • Authenticity – that you’re genuine • Credibility– that you’re believable & trustworthy • Longevity– that you’ve been around a while, and are here to stay • Transparency– that you’re upfront and honest, no hidden agendas • Consistency– that the information you, and others, are presenting is the same throughout the web, there are no contradictions

  3. Local Listings in Google, Yahoo, Bing All require/allow the following information about your business: • Business name • Street address • Phone Number • E-mail address • Website address • Business Description • Categories • Hours of Operation • Payment Options • Photos – Google, Yahoo ‘Enhanced’ Listing • Videos - Google

  5. Ranking Factors in Local Search • Claiming your listing • Address in city you are targeting • Categories • Keywords in description • Number of other listings on the web (e.g. online yellow pages) • Local phone number rather than an 800 number • Well populated listing (provide as much content as possible) • Reviews, especially reviews from other local listing sources (e.g. online yellow pages) • Comprehensive and consistent information on website (if you have one, if you don’t it’s not a factor)

  6. Negative Factors in Local Search • Don’t keyword stuff (overuse keywords) • Don’t repeat category keywords in your description • Don’t have multiple listings for the same business location • Don’t fake reviews • Don’t put location/keywords in your business name, unless they are part of your business name • Don’t list areas you service in your additional details (Google)

  7. In summary: • Authentic • Credible • Transparent • Consistent • Content • Keywords • Reviews • Citations
