  1. How to Survive World History By: Gianna McCombie

  2. The Textbook The world history textbook is very important!! This is where you will find all your information to take good notes for your quizzes, tests, in class assignments, etc. When you have a quiz or test and have to take notes, read over the sections and chapters to make sure you fully understand what is happening in that section or chapter so you are prepared for the quiz or test.

  3. The Notes At first you may not take very good notes, but you’ll learn and get the hang of it as the year goes on. You will take in class notes, so make sure you listen and pay attention to what Mr. Yonko is teaching. Make sure you write down the important information he tells you to write down. The textbook is where you will get most of your information from. Highlight your notes when you take them so it’s easier to find certain topics when taking a quiz or big 50 point chapter test.

  4. Organizing notes/notebook Be sure to label your notes (chapter 5 section 1-2) this will help you be organized and ready for either the midterm or final at the end of the year. Highlighting and underlining important topics of your notes will also be a huge help, so definitely don’t forget that. Be sure to take good notes because you will turn your notes in to Mr. Yonko. Notes are worth 10 points when you turn them in.

  5. Organize time Having to do 2 sections of notes with each section having 4 or 5 pages at 11:00 at night is an awful idea. Be sure to have your notes done ahead of time and have them prepared for your test. I normally read the chapter and took my notes during tutorial or right after school in my free time. Getting your notes done ahead of time will make you stress less about getting them done.

  6. What is homework? Homework in Mr. Yonko’s class is easy. Sometimes he will let you have a few minutes at the end of class to work on it, or just finish it at home. Always have your homework done before you walk into class so you can’t turn it in right away and not have to rush into class and try to get it done before the tardy bell rings. Always have your homework done before coming to Mr. Yonko’s class!!

  7. What is a quiz? A quiz in Mr. Yonko’s class is always worth 10 points. It is a multiple choice, sometimes true and false, and open notes quiz. Sometimes he will throw a curve and let your class work with a partner on the quiz, so always have your notes done and be prepared.

  8. What is a test? A test in Mr. Yonko’s class is always worth 50 big points and most certainly affects your grade if you do poorly on it. A test is open notes too, just like a quiz. Have good notes and read over the chapter in your textbook to be prepared for this big test. These tests are always at the end of a chapter and include all the sections of the chapter. The tests are normally multiple choice, and completed on a scantron paper.

  9. Working in Groups Working in groups is always fun, but don’t act foolish or crazy. Work with your group members quietly and efficiently so you can get your work done and turn your assignment in or present your project to the class. You will work in groups playing a game, doing a paper, or producing a presentation to present in front of the class. Don’t ever mess around and get your work done on time.

  10. Acting in class You should always provide Mr. Yonko will your full attention and listen to what he’s teaching. Don’t mess around or act foolish because Mr. Yonko doesn’t put up with that. Don’t talk while Mr. Yonko is teaching, so you’ll be able to hear what he’s teaching because it will be helpful for the tests and quizzes.

  11. Additional important items • Don’t be late for class. Be on time and ready to start class. • ALWAYS HAVE YOUR NOTES DONE • Always have your materials for class
