St. Vincent tells us: • “God loves the poor, and consequently He loves those who love the poor. . . Now, this (family) strives to devote itself lovingly to the service of the poor, who are God’s well-beloved, and so we have reason to hope that, for love of them, God will love us. Let us go, then, my brothers (and sisters) and devote ourselves with new love to serve the poor, and even seek out the poorest and most abandoned; let us confess before God that they are our lords and masters and we are unworthy to render them our little services.” (January 1657)
