  4. 3. Show your strategy(and explain what you did!) Garage Sale The kite sold for $8! Mike sold 7 CDs, so $4 * 7 = $28 • Mike – 7 CDs Luke sold 5 CDS, so $4 * 5 = $20 I decided to draw a picture and use logical reasoning to figure out the missing price of the kite. I knew that CDs are $4 each, and that both boys make the same amount of money. Mike’s money= Luke’s money $4 * 7 = $28 • Luke – 5 CDS and a kite $4 * 5 = $20 Hmm…. Mike’s money = Luke’s money $28 = $20 + sale price of kite $8 = sale price of kite

  5. 4. Explain Your Work (Communication) Garage Sale I decided to draw a picture and use logical reasoning to figure out the missing price of the kite. I knew that • CDs are $4 each, • Both boys make the same amount of money. • Mike’s money= Luke’s money Mike sold 7 CDs, so $4 * 7 = $28 Luke sold 5 CDS, so $4 * 5 = $20 $28 (Mike’s $$) must equal $20 plus the price of the kite (Luke’s $$) $28 = $20 + kite price The kite sold for $8!
