Clothe-A-ChildOctober 2008 • A local Masonic Lodge in Cedar Rapids held an annual event granting opportunity to help our inner-city youth. • Children who are less fortunate were brought to Sears to purchase clothes for the winter, guided by volunteers keeping track of the $120 budget they each have. • The entire budget was donated by Sears and Payless. This is our second year in participation.

  9. DSQ’s Teen SummitDecember 2008 • The Delta Chapter and the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated held their 1st Annual Teen Summit in Iowa City, Iowa. • They invited many black high school students from the area to come out and gain a wealth of information on various teen topics from college, to financial management to STDs. The Greek presence played a significant role and the Basileus of the Eta Upsilon Chapter also participated and instilled the importance of mentorship and uplift in the minds of young men.

Toys-4-TotsDecember 2008 • The Salvation Army’s Annual Toys-4-Tots was held in January 2009 to help bring the giving spirit of Christmas to all families, especially those who suffered from the flood last summer. • After volunteering in the effort, The Eta Upsilon Chapter was interviewed LIVE by a local radio station via cell phone. The chapter also gave feedback to the administration, asking that they choose a better location for next year such as a toy store.
