  2. The future is a simple tense. It corresponds to the English: will / shall + verb and to be going to + verb.

  3. CHANGING THE VERB • Drop the –e from the infinitive. 2. Add the appropriate ending. 3. If the verb is –are, then change the –a to –e before adding the ending.

  4. THE FUTURE ENDINGS io  -ò tu  -ai lui / lei  -à noi  -emo voi  -ete Loro  -anno

  5. THE REGULAR VERBS

  6. Spelling Changes Verbs ending in –care and –gare add h to the future tense stem after the c or g to keep the hard sound. Verbs ending in –ciare and –giare drop the i because it is not needed to keep the soft sound.

  11. Reflexive verbs work the same way in the future tense. You must have a reflexive pronoun and the future verb

  12. EXAMPLES Per l’estate, comprerò un paio di sandali. A che ora arriverai alla festa? Domani, pulirò la mia stanza. Noi dormiremo fino alle dieci. Loro aspetteranno il tassì. Diventerai un bravissimo dottore.
