JAWS Upper Jaw • Used for grasping and manipulating food Lower Jaw • Moves up and down • Holds teeth in place
TEETH • Incisors cuts the food • Canine tears the food • Premolars shreds the food • Molars crushes and grinds the food
SALIVARY GLANDS • Made up of three parts: Parotid Gland Submandibular Gland Sublingual Gland • They secrete saliva on the walls and floor of the mouth • The saliva breaks down carbs
THE TONGUE AND CHEEKS • Both work together to mix food up so it’s easier to swallow • Work together to keep food between the teeth • TONGUE • Taste buds tell u what you are tasting • The tongue pushes your food to the back of your mouth • CHEEKS • Lined with a mucous membrane
