Program UpdatesOperations Division • SmarterRoads • 800+ accounts created to date • 28 data feeds available, new feeds under consideration • Office of Strategic Innovation developing an integrated framework that considers data, technology, security and communications • VDOT completed an Operational Technology Cyber Security assessment and will be addressing potential vulnerabilities • These will influence SmarterRoads go-forward strategy

Program UpdatesOperations Division • Traffic Operations • Statewide TOC and SSP operations • SSP Fleet growing to 156 new vehicles • Proactively prepared for SSP expansion on I-81 • New Richmond TOC operational Fall 2019 • Co-location with State Police • Supported innovative DMS safety message campaign • Integrated Emergency Management with Operations Division • Provided statewide coordination and support for several major weather events • Supported UAV Pilot Program

Program UpdatesTraffic Engineering • EMU3 Pilot Deployment • Ease of data access and improved reliability • Units provide Per Vehicle Records, speed by lane, improved classification and improved real-time data provision • Innovative Methods for Obtaining Traffic Volumes • Pooled-Fund effort exploring the use of probe and location-based data to approximate volumes • If effective, could provide more comprehensive data at lower cost

Program UpdatesTraffic Engineering • Pedestrian App testing at signals(ADA accommodation) • Participating in national committees on pavement markings and signals for Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) • Deployment of Advanced Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) • Participating in CAV Pooled Fund Study effort on the Multi-modal Intelligent Traffic Signal System (MMITSS)

Contracting OpportunitiesRegional Operations • Central Region Multi-term On-call Signal Contracts • Fredericksburg District: $2M per term • Richmond District: $2.5M per term • Northern Region Traffic Engineering Professional Services • RFP Advertisement imminent • SW Region Tunnel System Upgrades • Replace manual and Programmable Logic Controllers, reconfigure control rooms, and implement new SCADA at I-77 mountain tunnels • RFP advertisement this Spring (Est. = $7M) • Ongoing effort by SW Region staff to evaluate replacement of tunnel cameras
