Database of 2016 bursary applicants and Department of Health 2017 Cuban programme database has been used for the selection process. Matric point system, gender equity and geographical distribution of the potential applicant was utilised as central for selection purposes to ensure that deserving applicant benefit in the programme taking into account the selection criteria of the approved Provincial Bursary Policy.20 medical applicants will be provided by Department of Health from their 2017 Cuban database to be part of the 103 successful applicants. Potential applicants preliminary selected will be subjected to medical examination and security vetting exercise as requirement for international studies.Succesful 103 applicants will then be contracted in the international study programme after all process finalised.2016/17 academic year on this programme has proven that some students fail medical examination hence the total potential applicants is 110 with a target of 103 successful once. The Department has also a plan to assist those who fail medical examination to register with South African University and provide debriefing and counselling including alerting their parents for support. CHIETA IN THE PROVINCE • Currently the SETA is running projects around some parts of the Province. • DoE engaged CHIETA since from last year with the purpose of expanding its Programmes to other parts of the Province. • DoE obtained a list of accredited Skills Development Providers and engaged them using the existing Provincial HRD to conduct Skills need
