A lion is a mammal because: • It has fur that cover the skin on its body. • A lion also gives birth to live young not eggs. • The babies drink milk from their mothers’ bodies.
A manatee does not have fur. But still it is a mammal. • It has some hair on its skin. • A manatee mother gives birth to live young.
Animals that live in water but are mammals. • A manatee lives in water, but it has lungs, like other mammals.
Both a manatee and a dolphin rise to the top of the water to breathe in oxygen from the air.
Birds have feathers • They have wings and can fly • They hatch eggs
