ABCS Awareness Training • Global Command and Control System – Army (GCCS-A) • Army Tactical Command and Control System (ATCCS) • Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2) 4
FBCB2 • Provides seamless battle command capability to leaders at the Brigade level and below. • Provides units the capability to transmit key combat information rapidly through formatted digital messages. • Provides situational awareness (SA) by showing the users their position as well as other friendly forces, observed enemy forces, and reported battlefield obstacles. 5
The Terrestrial FBCB2 System • The primary digital command and control system for the Army at brigade and below • Consists of computer hardware and software integrated into tactical vehicles in a variety of configurations • Distributes Situational Awareness (SA) data and passes Command and Control (C2) messages within and between Brigades • Depends on a communications infrastructure called the Lower Tactical Internet made up of EPLRS and SINCGARS radios 6

FBCB2 System Components PLGR INC/Router EPLRS SINCGARS-ASIP Systems are integrated for seamless communications 16
Single Channel Ground & Airborne Radio System/Advanced System Improvement Program (SINCGARS/ASIP) • Transmit/receives SA/C2 between platforms on same data net frequency. • Primary communications system for the FBCB2 below platform. 17
Internet Controller (INC)/Router • Data interface between the FBCB2 system and • the SINCGARS radio. • Takes data packets from the FBCB2 or • SINCGARS and routes them to the • appropriate location, • computer address, or • addresses. 18
Precision Lightweight Global Positioning System (PLGR) • Receives positional signals from • multiple satellites to pinpoint a • user’s location. • Location information is represented • as the platform’s icon on the display • unit (DU). • Primary source of synchronized • time with SINCGARS/ASIP radios. 19
Enhanced Position Location Reporting System (EPLRS) • Both a data radio and a location device. • Used to relay information to platforms outside • the local net. • Relays info to the local net SA server, which • relays it over the EPLRS to the receiving end. 20
