Framework for Teaching Domain 1: Planning and Preparation Component 1a: Demonstrating Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy Component 1b: Demonstrating Knowledge of Students Component 1c: Setting Instructional Outcomes Component 1d: Demonstrating Knowledge of Resources Component 1e: Designing Coherent Instruction Component 1f: Designing Student Assessments Professional Learning Tool Domain I-Preparation and Planning Teacher understanding of individual learners’ strengths, needs, and interests promotes personalization and customization. Teacher understanding of available resources promotes student choice. Teacher design of on-going assessment/feedback promotes responsive, small group instruction. Domain III-Instruction Communication is initiated by both teacher and student. Questioning is high level and promotes multiple ways to respond, including further questioning. Learning activities and selected pedagogical strategies promote cognitive engagement. Diagnostic assessment is used to monitor individual progress and make responsive decisions. Timely feedback is provided so students can make decisions about their learning.
