  2. AUSTRIA AND THE WORLD ROAD ASSOCIATION 1909Joining the Association as a member state 1973 Establishment of the National Committee 1975 Int. Winter Road Congress in Salzburg 1979 World Road Congress in Vienna 1994 Int. Winter Road Congress in Seefeld 1998 1st ASTRAD - Symposium 2000 Founding of Winter Maintenance Committee 2004 - 2012 Chairing the group of NCs • 40th Anniversary of the National Committee (15 individual and 17 collective members) 27 Representatives in TechnicalCommittees

  3. 40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE AUSTRIAN NC A meeting of all Austrian TC members together with the board and member of the National Committee took place in November 2013 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the NC. Progress of work in preparation of the WRC in Seoul was discussed and a review of the past 40 years was done. An offical stamp was published at this occasion. The 2014 General Assembly took place in June. In view of the World Road Congress 2015 another Meeting of Austrian TC members with NC Members is scheduled for later this year

INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS • The mid-term meeting of all TCs together with the SPC is took place 30 June – 2 July 2014 in Vienna. • The Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology together with the Austrian National Committee of the World Road Association provided extensive support for the meeting. • TC 3.3. Subgroup WG5 on Tunnel Ventilation met in May 2014 in Vienna • TC 4.1. Asset Management held its meeting in September 2014 in Vienna • Road Safety Task Force met on the occasion of the TC-mid-term meeting in Vienna

TUNNEL CONFERENCE 2014 TUNNEL SAFETY AND VENTILATION New Developments in Tunnel Safety May 12-13, 2014 Messecenter Graz - Tagungszentrum following the successful tradition this international symposium offered again in 2014 the possibility to exchange knowledge and to gain deeper insight into the newest developments in the fields of: • ventilation: design, fireloads • Emission, emission-factors • risk analysis, limits, assessment for safety related equipment • Choice of ventilation systems in relation to risk analysis • System tests (tunnel – safety – ventilation) • System tests for commissioning, recurring tests • Tunnel operation • refurbishment and upgrading of tunnels under operation • innovative concepts and installations

WINTER ROAD CONGRESS 2014 IN ANDORRA Various Austrian presentations at the congress: Mr. Neuhold (Head of National Winter Maintenance Committee, Lower Austria), Mr. Nutz (Municipality of Vienna), Mr. Hoffmann (Vienna University of Technology) Mr. Spreitzhofer (Inst. for Meteorology, University of Vienna) Report about the Austrian participation in Andorra, published in Eurokommunal, a partner magazine of the Austrian National Committee

  9. SNOWPLOW COMPETITION ASFINAG – national snowfighter competition The winning team was respresenting Austria in Andorra

  10. WORLD ROAD CONGRESS 2015 IN SEOUL • The Call for Papers was circulated • There will be several Austrian Contributions for the Call for Paper • The World Road Congress was promoted at several occasions (e.g. National Day of the National Road Research Association) • National Reports are being prepared for the Congress for all four Strategic Themes • Austrian participation in the Congress was discussed at the National Assembly.
