  2. Los Sustantivos Nouns: In Spanish, all nouns (people, places, things and ideas) are divided into two classifications. • Masculine – el hombre, el coche, el elefante, el libro, el niño, y el primo • Feminine – la mujer, la cosa, la mama, la tiza, la tizara, y la puerta

  3. Los Sustantivos Knowing whether a noun is masculine or feminine is largely memorization. • Usually masculine nouns end in ‘o’. • Usually feminine nouns end in ‘a’. • All nouns ending in –ión are feminine. • La elección, la lección, y la memorización • -ad (ity) nouns usually feminine. • La Libertad, la dignidad, la unidad, la necesidad, y la prosperidad

  8. Sustantivos Y Adjetivos Nouns and Adjectives have to agree. When using a masculine noun, you must use the masculine form of the adjective: El hombre alto/bajo El hombre gordo/delgado El niñolisto/sencillo El niño guapo/feo

  14. Sustantivos Mezclados If you have two or more nouns that are being described by a single adjective, and they are of mixed genders, the masculine adjective is used. Ejemplo: El carro es caro, the car is expensive. La bicicleta es cara, the bicycle is expensive. El carro y la bicicleta son caros – the car and the bicycle are expensive.
