Terrazza Zola Italian Pottery By: Carmela Stella
The Terrazza Zola majolica collection is handcrafted in a tiny village on the Mediterranean Sea and features old world designs of flowers and fruit. • Majolica is a type of colorful italian eartenware(Pottery made of clay fired to a porous state, which can be made impervious to liquids by the use of a glaze.) • This type of earthenware was originally exported from Majorca, a Spanish island, and introduced to Italy in the 13th century. • During the Renaissance period, Majolica became popular and the artistic ceramics were often given as a gift to celebrate special occasions, such as weddings and births.
