  1. Welcome to Math Class! Mrs. Okimoto Team Na Koa Sorry I was unable to attend.

  2. About Me • 7th year teaching • 3rd year teaching at KMS • Taught for 4 years at Waialua Elementary • Taught 6th grade 6 out of the 7 years, taught 2nd grade once • Married • One daughter, age 2

  3. Expectations for Students • Come to class prepared and ready to learn • Be an active learner in class • Be on time in turning in assignments • Complete homework (practice skills necessary to meet standards) • Work on ALEKS weekly

  4. ALEKS Students are expected to: • Work on ALEKS for a minimum of 3 hours per week and complete at least 8 topics per week • Or: Complete at least 20 topics per week ***Students unable to access ALEKS at home may use the computers in the school library before and after school, recess, and lunch. Students may also use the computers in my room during the 2nd homeroom.

ALEKS Reports Your child knows how to access his/her report to see how long he/she has been on ALEKS and how many topics have been mastered. • In “My Pie”- Click on Reports at the top right hand corner • On Pie Report you can view: - total time spent on ALEKS - at the bottom of the page- number of topics completed since last assessment, number of topics completed per hour

  6. Time and Topic Report • On Time and Topic Report you can view: - time spent on ALEKS per day - number of topics attempted - number of topics mastered Note: In order to see Time and Topic report from the beginning of the quarter, you may need to adjust the date range at the top of the report.

  7. Assessments in ALEKS • Periodic assessments will appear after your child has worked on a certain number of topics • ALEKS uses the assessments to determine what your child has mastered and what still needs to be practiced • Your child should complete the assessment when it appears

  8. Data Project • Students are currently working on a project in which they designed a numerical data question to find out about a typical Na Koa student. • Final project is due: - Sept. 15 for periods 1 and 5 - Sept. 16 for periods 2, 4, 6
