Lead Lining and Its Uses

Lead Shielding is one of the ways to control radiation. It pertains to covering the reactor with a mass of absorbing material so that the radiation can reduced to a level safe for human beings.Medi-RayTM manufactures lead shieldings for radioactive materials, X-Ray, CT, MRI or PET scanning equipment or the rooms that house them. Medi-RayTM has the shielding components you need: sheet lead and foils, adhesive backed and coated lead materials, custom components and lead stampings.Further details contact us at 877-898-3003or send an email to sales@mediray.com

  1. Lead Lining and Its Uses

  2. Lead Lining for protection from radiations • Lead Shielding is one of the ways to control radiation. It pertains to covering the reactor with a mass of absorbing material so that the radiation can reduced to a level safe for human beings.

  3. How is lead lining done? • The equipment or the area that need lead lining is laminated with sheet leads to cover their surfaces. These sheet leads are 99.9% pure un-pierced and untouched lead. • They are free from sediments, oxide inclusions, scale, coatings, blisters, cracks. The lead is between 1/32″ to 1/8″ thick and assures good protection from radiations.

  4. Areas where lead coating is used In Construction Industry • Lead building products are often used within the construction industry. This includes lead fixings, lead pipe shielding and lead sheets.

  5. In Healthcare facilities • Healthcare workers and their patients can be kept safe from harmful rays due to lead radiation shielding. This covers vetinary, dental and also medical fields.

  6. In Nuclear Industry • In nuclear power facilities the need for lead shielding is intense. They eject powerful gamma and neutron radiation. So, lead shiedings are intensively used in this area.

  7. In defense Industry • In defense industry, many lead products are used from lead shielding to lead wool and lead bricks. Many submarines are nuclear powered and due to the fact that they are submerged for long periods at a time, radiation shielding has to be strong and robust.

  8. Medi-RayTM • Medi-RayTMprovides a fully integrated suite of in-house services resulting in a single, convenient and vertically integrated source for all your custom lead fabrication needs • Whether you are shielding radioactive materials, X-Ray, CT, MRI or PET scanning equipment or the rooms that house them, Medi-RayTM has the shielding components you need: sheet lead and foils, adhesive backed and coated lead materials, custom components and lead stampings.
