What would happen if human suddenly disappeared?

This presentation is about life after humans. Eventually, everything that humans have dreamt, built, and believed will be gone. Just like the dinosaurs, one day, the human race will become extinct

  1. Noor Ul Ain F2019321071 What would happen if humans suddenly disappeared?

  2. If humans suddenly disappeared, what would happen to our planet? • After just one day, the entire planet would be plunged into darkness • Things like solar panels and wind turbines would still be able to generate electricity in some areas, but eventually, they would stop working after a few months or a couple of years

  3. Cont.. • Nuclear power plants would shut down • Water pumps in subway systems would stop working

  4. What would happen to domestic animals? • Domestic animals, would either starve to death, or escape their houses, and start scavenging for food • They would escape or either look for food elsewhere

  5. Food spoilage • Food everywhere would be rotting • Dairy products would begin to spoil within a few hours • The fruit would ripen and decay • Meat would also start rotting. Animals like blowflies and maggots would begin to gnaw away at the meat products

  6. Nuclear plants destruction • After more than a week, spent fuel pools inside nuclear power plants would boil away due to the heat coming from the fuel rods • The equivalent of 20 cores worth of radiation would be released into the environment

  7. Wild animals • After several months, without people to keep them at bay, wild animals would start returning to the urban landscape • Animals trapped inside zoos would succumb to starvation

  8. Demolishment of buildings • After one year, plant vegetation would start taking over. Weeds and grass would start growing in cracks in roads and highways • Buildings would start getting overrun by plants and ivy. They would start to damage the foundations of buildings

  9. Wildfires • In the absence of humans, wildfires will go unchecked. A lightning strike has the possibility to start a fire in the countryside, or in a certain building in a city

  10. Destruction of human made things • After a few years, trees, vines, moss, etc, would overrun streets and cities. Most roadways would be hidden under a carpet of grass • With no more road traffic, one of the major sources of pollution in the world would be gone

  11. Cont.. • After about one hundred years, suspension bridges would have collapsed • Abandoned skyscrapers would have become vertical ecosystems

  12. Cont.. • Cities located in desert environments would start being overtaken by the surrounding sand • Satellites that were put into orbit would start losing their altitude, and fall back to our planet like shooting stars

  13. Cont.. • After two decades or so, concrete structures would begin to crack and crumble • Without human maintenance, low-lying cities such as London, Amsterdam and Venice, would be flooded by water

  14. Sky scrappers would turn into a towering inferno • Copper lightning rods on top of skyscrapers would have corroded, significantly decreasing their efficiency • A lightning strike would be able to turn a skyscraper into a towering inferno

  15. Automobile destruction • After more than seven decades, most automobiles in the world, would have rusted away to unrecognizable, skeletal heaps • But the synthetic rubber and plastic components will last for centuries

  16. Reversion • After generations of breeding with wolves, the descendants of domestic dogs would have reverted back into the predators they were before domestication

  17. Plastic • One thing that will last millions of years after our disappearance are plastic products. • Eventually, they would end up in the sea, and they would be slowly buried under the ground.

  18. Creation of new animal species • After 10 millennia, there would be very little evidence of mankind. By now, most remnants of our civilization have either been buried, covered over by vegetation and carried away by the tide • Animals that escaped from zoos thousands of years ago, would have evolved in order to adapt to their new environment. So the disappearance of mankind would actually create some new animal species

  19. Cont.. • Another thing that would last millions of years would be our bones • Who knows, maybe some apes will be able to evolve, and replace us as the dominant species on the planet, years into the future…

  20. Conclusion • A world without humans would be better for Earth. • Animals that were endangered because of humans (poaching/trophy hunting) will sustain their numbers again. • Nature will take over everything, as it once did. • No more animal abuse. • Bees won't be dying drastically from human usage of pesticides and other harsh chemicals anymore. • No more pollution from greenhouse gases. • No more oil being spilt into the ocean. • No more deafening sounds of cars and populated metropolitan areas. Just peaceful nature with birds chirping away.
