  3. LIFE Francesco Petrarch was born on 20th July 1304 and died on 19th July 1374. Known in English as Petrarch, he was an Italian scholar and poet and one of the earliest humanist, in fact he is often called the "Father of Humanism”. In the 16th century, it was created the model for the modern Italian language based on Petrarch's works.

  4. Works. • Petrarch is best known for his poems, notably the Canzoniere, Trionfi and Secretum. • FRANCESCA FAZZINA.
