Platinum Paw Orientation Welcome!
The highest award on campus! • High academic achievement • Outstanding citizenship • Concern for community
Steps to achieve your Platinum Paw • Pre-Approval form – submit to team leader • Petitions - Begin working on Petition areas (form on School Loop or at meetings) • Attend mandatory meetings • Sign in at each meeting • Turn new petitions and any other paperwork • Check files • Look in your file to make sure petitions have been approved and file updated • Files with negative issues will be flagged, and you will need to get clarification for the requirement needed
Starting a File • Once we have received a completed Pre-Approval, Platinum Paw Agreements Form, and one completed Petition—your file will be started • Seventh graders – your teachers may wait until Progress Report or end of term to submit the Pre-Approval forms to me • But you may begin working on your petitions before the pre-approval form is submitted.
How to Complete Platinum Paw • Complete 7 out of 8 areas on the petition • Each area = minimum of 16 hours or more • Use the back of the petition form to decide which area you are working towards • Fill in petitions NEATLY and COMPLETELY • This is like a job application
How to Complete Platinum Paw, cont. • All areas must be completed during your time as a EPMS student (there are some exceptions for students that transferred to EPMS) • Parents can only sign off on 2 petitions areas • Turn completed petitions in at meetings • Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher with no D’s, F’s or U’s. • Meetings times will vary. Specifics will be in the daily bulletin. 8th grade is with Mrs. Meyer in MH-6, 7th grade with Mrs. Pinkerton in MF-3.
How to Complete Platinum Paw, cont. • Area 1 – School Service (Activity Log and Signatures required) • You must fill in a Activity Log which you get from me to submit with your petition. • Area 2 – Scholastic Achievement (copies of evidence required) • Make copies of your certificates/awards/report cards and turn those in with your petition forms (these forms do not need to be signed by an adult—the copy is your proof)
How to Complete Platinum Paw, cont. • Area 3 – Class Achievement (Copies of certificates required) • Make copies of your certificates/awards/report cards and turn those in with your petition forms (these forms do not need to be signed by an adult—the copy is your proof) • Area 4 – Leadership (Signature required) • A. - can be done in 7th or 8th grade year • B. – hard to become a club officer during the first year of club membership – ask your club leader • C. – Scout leaders, etc.

Things to Think About Now! • Platinum Paw is meant to be a 2-year process – you should not try to complete all the requirements in a single year (there will be some exceptions for 8th graders this year)! Save, save, save. Most petitions require documentation so be sure to save forms, awards, certificates, report cards etc; • Difficult Areas • Area 4 – Leadership • A. - can only be done in 8th grade year • B. – hard to become a club officer during the first year of club membership – ask your club leader • C. – Scouts leaders, etc. • Area 6 – Club Participation • A. – Join or start a club now!
