None of us like to feel Vulnerable But, at some time or another, we all do.
What does it mean to feel “Vulnerable”? • It means to feel afraid, like Peter, Matt.14:30 • It means to feel fragile, like Elijah, 1Kings 19:10 • It means to feel weak, like Paul, 1Cor.2:32Cor.11:20-30 • It means to feel powerless, like father of Luke 9:37ff • It means to feel helpless, like Peter, Luke 22:33 > 61 • It means to feel alone, like Jesus- Matt.26:36-46Luke 22:44 It feels awful.
Causes/Areas of Vulnerability: With Spiritual Assurance • Physical Fragility • Impairment, disease, accidents, and ultimately death can all make us feel extremely vulnerable- especially as parents, and older folks, Eccl.12:1-8. • Financial disasters and challenges can make us feel extremely vulnerable, Luke 12:16-21> Matt.19:23-27. • Natural disasters such as electrical storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, draught, etc. can makes us feel extremely vulnerable, Acts 27:15-20. • But, God has given comfort for these things… 2Cor.4:16-17; Heb.2:15 Matt.6:25-34; 19:28-30 Gen.2:5-9 > 6:5-7:1; Heb.9:27-28; 1Pet.3:20-21
The bottom line is: • In every area in which we feel vulnerable, God has given us assurance! Consider… • The assurance given the dedicated regarding his physical distresses, 2Cor.12:7-10; • The assurance given the faithful regarding their fears, Heb.11:34ff> 12:1-13; • The assurance given sons regarding their weakness, Rom.8:14-17 > 18-28.
