  1. Backgrounds at STAR. Sunday Feb. 26th. ~ 45 kHz, ~ 1.7 x 1030 BBC Coin. Blue back. Yellow back. ZDC coin.

  2. STAR Status RHIC Coordination meeting February 28, 2006. W.B. Christie • We’ve had 2 + Shifts of Collisions (Plots to follow) • BBC based “Collision” trigger timed in • Rough timing scans performed for Barrel and Endcap Towers • With Magnet on, working on final tune of gains and timing for Min-bias Trigger (little beam/progress this morning) • Once mb tuned and set, proceed with calibration of Calorimeters. For EEMC this should be more of a check. For Barrel more extensive effort. • Once mb set, and proper phasing of Blue and Yellow bunches established, we can commission local polarimeter (transverse) • Once Calorimeter timing and gains set, start commissioning Spin Triggers. • At this point, commissioning is expected to continue until ~ March 8th. This would be a quick commissioning period for Spin running. • For this years Physics goals to be achieved we need a fairly significant increase in the Collider luminosity.

  3. Backgrounds at STAR. Monday Feb. 27th. Collision rate ~ 77 kHz, ~ 2.8 x 1030 BBC Coin. Back/Collision ~ 20% Blue back. Yellow back. Sum (Yb + Bb) ~ 15 kHz) ZDC coin.
