Early Life… - Annelies Marie Frank was her full name. - Born June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. - First home was a duplex townhouse at 307 Marbachweg. - Anne spent twelve days in the hospital when she was born, due to a difficult labor. - She spoke German, Dutch, and a little bit of English. - When she was 5 years old, her family was immigrated to Amsterdam.
5 facts about her, and her diary… - Anne was in the Annex, and during that time she would write in her diary. Although, during the time it was common to have a pen name for the writer, so therefore she gave a pen name for everyone in the Annex so all she wrote would be in hiding, and much more interesting. The pen name she chose for herself was originally going to be Anne Aulis, but later on, she named herself Anne Robbins. - In every published diary of Anne Frank, every entry would begin with “Dear Kitty”, but with the original diary she wrote in when she was still alive, she would not always start with “Dear Kitty.” At times, it would be "Pop," "Phien," "Emmy," "Marianne," "Jetty," "Loutje," "Conny," and "Jackie." These entries appeared from September 25th, 1942- November 13th of that same year. - The inspiration for Anne to write in her diary was on her 13th birthday, it was a gift and originally it was a autograph album, but as soon as she got it, she began writing. Her very first entry was on June 12, 1942. She wanted her diary to only be about, and seen by her. This all changed when Minister GerrittBolkestein made an announcement, that made her inspired to publish her diary after the war. Sadly, she could not finish due to her family being caught, and then arrested. The last diary entry Anne wrote was on March 29th, 1944. - Anne was a fantastic writer, very detailed and precise that she eventually wrote in her whole entire diary. As time went on, she kept writing her entries with 2 more notebooks. The first notebook she continued writing in kept her entries from December 22nd , 1943 to April 17th , 1944. The second was from April 17th, 1944 to right before she was arrested. As to now, no one has a clue to where the second notebook got lost before or after her arrest. - The girl who was bubbly, happy, and very talkative was then mournful, upset, and morose. During Anne’s time in the concentration camp, she became more and more unhappy. Misery showered over her, and her smile was no longer there. Anne had officially become depressed on September 16th, 1943. She had taken valerian for her anxiety and depression, her eating habits were lowering and the only cure for her sadness was to be freed. Which was absolutely impossible.
