National Policy, Program and Coordination • Seven BPNI branches will approach the State heads to make IYCF a policy • Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, WB, Jharkhand and AP • Rajasthan will form a State Task Force • Pilot projects in one district each in Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, W.B and Jharkhand • Three more districts in UP (Lucknow, Aligarh and Gorakhpur) will replicate the Lalitpur Model
Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative • Lactation Policy will be implemented in all the medical colleges in Punjab and in one medical college in Jharkhand • Rajasthan BPNI will recognize all the Baby Friendly Hospitals in their state.
Implementation of the International Code • Awareness camps for professional bodies in Jharkhand • IMS Act Seminar in Davangere district of Karnataka and in Delhi • Haryana State branch will approach DGHS for revitalizing Task Force on IYCF
Maternity Protection • Rajasthan, Jharkhand, W.B., Orissa, Maharashtra, Karnataka will pursue 6 months maternity leave with the appropriate authorities • Crèche in one public and private hospital in Jharkhand
Health and Nutrition Care • Resource Persons will be made available to Food and Nutrition Board and like minded organizations for TOT and OTCs • Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra, Orissa, Jharkhand, A.P, Haryana (With Sakshrta Program), UP and W.B • Existing Helpline on IYCF in Maharashtra will be further strengthened and extended its coverage
Community Outreach • Delhi and Haryana will actively participate in RCH and Health Camps • Haryana and Punjab will extend the activities of Lactation Management Clinics to the community • District level workshops on IYCF • UP, Karnataka, WB, Haryana and Punjab • Participation of a pediatrician in 2000 ICDS sector meetings in Karnataka
Information Support • Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Delhi will have slogans on IYCF at all strategic points in their Hospitals and other Govt. Health Facilities
Infant Feeding and HIV • Respective State AIDS Control Societies will be apprised of the latest guidelines in this regard. All their frontline functionaries will be trained accordingly- • Jharkhand, WB, Orissa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, A.P, Punjab,Haryana • BPNI HQ will prepare a consensus statement to cut down the mixed feeding
Infant Feeding During Emergencies • Orissa and Jharkhand will apprise Disaster Management Committees in their respective states about Infant Feeding during emergencies
Monitoring and Evaluation • BPNI HQ will conduct an assessment of IYCF practices based on Global Strategies in 2008 • Haryana, Punjab, Orissa, UP, AP, Jharkhand,Karnataka, WB, Delhi and Rajasthan will apprise BPNI HQ of their activities and achievements
