Tardies. Tardiness is a huge issue at South Houston High School. Tardy sweep program. Before the tardy sweep program, teachers were responsible for inputting students tardies , contacting parents and interventions. This process did not solve the problem. The tardy sweep is done every period.

  1. Tardies Tardiness is a huge issue at South Houston High School.

Tardy sweep program • Before the tardy sweep program, teachers were responsible for inputting students tardies, contacting parents and interventions. • This process did not solve the problem. • The tardy sweep is done every period. • Assistant principals, councilors and some teachers help with gathering students up and issuing them a tardy pass to go back to class. • If the student is tardy 4-5 times, then they spend that period in ISS. • If the student has more than 5 tardies, then they spend the day in ISS. • Every six the students start over with 0 tardies.

Conclusion • According to the data, the tardy sweep worked when first implemented. • After the first six weeks, the tardies increased and thus the tardy sweeps are not affective. • Other means of intervention need to be implemented to help lower the number of tardies. • Teachers like the fact that the administrators are doing the tardy sweeps, but they feel that the tardy sweeps are not working.
