What is enumerative writing? Please copy this into your writing folders! • Enumeration simply means to make a list, or to list things in order. Or when you break down a topic into smaller groups. • A writer starts with a general topic, then proceeds to break it down by listing some or all parts.
Now when you write an enumerative paragraph it might look like this! What are the various types of candy? There are many types of candy that are available. First there is hard candy, second there is chocolate, and third there is soft or chewy candy. To begin with hard candy is a type of candy that is made out of melted sugary ingredients but then later is left to cool and harden. For example, you can find mints, toffee, Lifesavers that are all types of hard candy. In addition, chocolate is a wonderful type of candy that uses cocoa beans. There are many kinds, for instance, Mars Bar, Oh Henry, and Caramilk. Finally, the last type of candy is a soft or chewy kind. Some examples are Starburst, toffees, and fudge. Looking at all of these different types of candies, you can see that there is a huge variety!

Try writing your own! • You will receive a package that includes: • A page of questions that you can chose from to focus on. Choose 1 to practice with. • On the back of the question sheet, is a semantics map which is a graphic organizer designed to help you organize your ideas. • The next page is a template that helps you practice organizing your paragraphs. • Finally on the back is the space for you to write your entire paragraph. • DON’T forget to include signal words; you should use them but make sure they flow with your writing! • Underline all of the signal words in your final paragraph
