Welcome to THIRD GRADE Curriculum Night!. ATTENDANCE. The school day is from 7:50-3:00. The earliest students may be dropped off is 7:15. Third Graders arriving early to school will go to the gym until 7:45 when teachers pick students up. At 7:50 students are considered tardy.

  1. Welcome to THIRD GRADE Curriculum Night!

  2. ATTENDANCE • The school day is from 7:50-3:00. • The earliest students may be dropped off is 7:15. • Third Graders arriving early to school will go to the gym until 7:45 when teachers pick students up. • At 7:50 students are considered tardy. • A written note must be sent to school upon a • student’s return to school.

  3. Changes in Way Home & Dismissal: • *Please send a note with your child if they are going home any way that is different from their normal routine. • *Without a note stating changes, we must send the child home the normal way. • *The office must be notified by 2:30 if there are changes in the way your child will be going home. The office will notify the teachers. • *Because your child’s safety is our #1 priority, car riders will not be released at dismissal without a BLUE card.

  4. Things In My Backpack: • 1. Young Elementary “Take-home” Folder • 2. Planner/behavior log (review with your child and initial nightly) • 3. S.O.A.R. Positive Behavior Support plan • 4. library books on their level • 5. possible homework • Make sure that your child is reading nightly.

  5. Behavioral Expectations: • Following classroom and school rules • S.O.A.R. PBS • Clip Chart System: • Green – Good Day! • Yellow – Slow Down! • Orange – Teacher’s Choice • Red – Parent Contact

  6. Communication: • *Progress Reports • *Report Cards • *Parent/ Teacher Conferences • *Planners • *Phone, Remind 101, email, or notes

  7. Assessments: We will be assessing the students throughout the year with Unit Test in Math, Science, and Social Studies. ELA will be tested at the end of each 6 weeks. Checkpoints with spelling, vocabulary and skills test are give each Friday. *We will be assessing beginning, middle, and end of the year with D.R.A. and Star. STAAR State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness Math – April 21, 2015 Reading – April 22, 2015

Snacks: Birthdays: *Healthy snack *Water bottle with sport lid. *You may send your child with his/her own snack or donate class snack for everyone to share. • You may send individual treats for your child’s Special Day. • We save treats until the end of the day, usually around 2:30. Lunch & Breakfast: *You are welcome to eat lunch with your child. *You may bring lunch to your child. *Lunch is 11:45-12:15 *Breakfast is 7:15 – 7:45
