  2. The Federal Depository Library Program The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to its Government's information. Since 1813, depository libraries have safeguarded the public's right to know by collecting, organizing, maintaining, preserving, and assisting users with information from the Federal Government. The mission of the FDLP is to disseminate information products from all three branches of the Government to over 1,250 libraries nationwide. The University of Kentucky Libraries joins 42 other land-grant university libraries in the United States celebrating their 100th year as a Federal Depository Library. Our depository offers the UK community and citizens of the Commonwealth free access to federal government information provided through the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). The collection consists of over one million books, microforms, maps, posters, CDs, and videotapes, as well as access to many online databases and websites. Source: www.gpoaccess.gov
