  5. US Senate Serves 6 years Terms are staggered $168,000 a year Must be at least 30 years old Must be a citizen of the US for the past nine years Must be resident of the state that you want to run for at the time of your election Called the upper house Represents the states

  6. US House of Representatives 2 year terms $169,000 a year Must be at least 25 years old Live in the United States for 7 years prior to election Must live in the state you want to represent at the election time Called the lower House Represents the People

  7. Naming • Congresses are named for every two year. • Named from 1st to 110th • They are called sessions of congress • One year is a session • We have now the 110th Session of Congress
