Non-Traditional Security Threats TRADITIONAL SECURITY THREAT • Traditional threat refer to hostile actions by government of nation-states against government and populations of other nation-states • They usually use armed forces sometimes intelligence services. • Targets are typically another nation’s armed forces, intelligent services, key government agencies
Non-Traditional Security Threats Non-traditional • Can originate from variety of non-state human and natural causes, and they can affect both government institutions and civilian populations. • They don’t use armed forces and intelligence agencies
Non-Traditional Security Threats In Indonesia 1. Natural disasters - Tsunami / earthquake, Flood - Forest fires 2. Global diseases / disease related - HIV/AIDS, TBC, Avian infleunt 3. Economic conditions - Poverty, unemployment, inequality (law, social discrepancy, gender, etc) 4. Transnational Crime and Terrorism - Sea piracy /maritime security - Drug trafficking/abuse,Human trafficking, Illegal fishing, Illegal mining, Illegal logging, People smuggling, money laundering
