  2. Percent Increase. • Sometimes we get an increase in pay. How do we calculate the % increase? • We can use a simple formula:

  3. Example. • Irfan made $35000 in 2004 as an accounting clerk. The next year, his pay was $37500. What was the % increase in his pay? = 7.14% . Irfan would receive a 7.14% raise.

  5. Percent Decrease • Percent decrease is calcualted the exact same way as percent increase.

  6. Example • Say minimum wage decreases from $10.25/hr to $9.50/hr. What is the % decrease? = -7.31%. So minimum wage decreased by 7.31%
