Religion in Myanmar (Burma) India has greatly influenced the lives of Myanmar's population, especially with Buddhism as the focal point of their existence. The monastery (pongyi kyaung) is considered to be the center of community life in villages. The shinphyu is something every boy goes through during adolescence. He goes through the experience of Gautama (who became Buddha) by going into the monastery and lives as a novice monk. At any point in his life, he is welcome to return for any length of time, but if he's married its understood he should ask his wife for her consent.
January 4 Independence Day; national holiday in memory of gaining independence from the British colonial reign. The celebrations last for a full week. February 12 Day of the Burmese Union; national holiday including parades in Yangon and dances performed by hill tribes in traditional dress. March 2 Peasants Day; national holiday with parades in memory of General Ne Win seizing power on the same day in 1962. March 10 Dry Season Celebration; national holiday. March 27 Day of the Army; national holiday with parades.
Education Education is free and compulsory for children from the age of 5 to 9. Secondary education consists of four years of middle or vocational school and an additional two years for high school. Middle and vocational schools are also free, but fees are charged for high school. Secondary schools enroll 39 percent of the secondary school-age population. Instruction in primary and secondary schools is in Burmese; English is the second language taught in many secondary schools. The literacy rate of the adult population is reported to be 86 percent. However, the Myanmar government claimed that less than one-fifth of the population was truly literate when it was seeking United Nations (UN) status as a “least developed country” in the late 1980s.

Traditional Music in Myanmar (Burma) Ancestors of Myanmar called Prome Dynasty entered Southern parts of Ayeyarwady River from the upper parts of Chinese Rawsuko River over thousands years ago. Myanmar ancestors were said to be Mongolian. This Dynasty came to ruin in about 1 century AD. It was said Prome Dynasty was an excellent country influenced by culture of ancient India.Music is also influenced by that of China and India. Another things are that a Myanmar king attacked and captured Ayuddaya, Thailand. And the culture of Thailand came into Myanmarcontains as parts of Myanmar music. Then the country became a colony of British Empire in 19 century.
