  2. In this presentation we are going to define ‘Classic’ and relate the definition with the book.

  3. Very well known and passed down through generations • ‘Of Mice and Men’ is a well known novella and has been studied throughout many generations, for example, ‘Of Mice and Men’ will be read by many IB students after us Characteristic of a Classic Characteristic of ‘Of Mice and Men’

  4. Receive literary praise and admiration • The fact that a movie was created based off of ‘Of Mice and Men’ means that it has received a great amount of praise Characteristic of a Classic Characteristic of ‘Of Mice and Men’

  5. Studied at schools or universities • It is (obviously) being studied in schools • I say obviously because all the English HL International Baccalaureate students have to read it Characteristic of a Classic Characteristic of ‘Of Mice and Men’

  6. Depth in either the issues they discuss, the innovative nature of their stylistic form, or the impact they have on contemporary culture • In the novella there is a great deal of “isms” (Racism, sexism, ageism and ableism) • It has lots of depth in friendship and loyalty (between George and Lennie) Characteristic of a Classic Characteristic of ‘Of Mice and Men’

  7. Why Mezbah is a dick • Deals with lasting/timeless themes; love, death, loyalty, self-fulfillment, guilt and violence • Its themes deal with love, loyalty, violence, poverty, false hopes and death • ‘Of Mice and Men’ also shows the deeper levels of the human mind, and shows a doorway into some of the darker issues of life Characteristic of a Classic Characteristic of ‘Of Mice and Men’

  8. Causes a great deal of emotions (controversies, fan girls, etc.) • ‘Of Mice and Men’ has been banned in some places in the United States of America • It has some very emotional scenes (that we will not reveal now so that the book is not spoiled) Characteristic of a Classic Characteristic of ‘Of Mice and Men’

  9. All these factors put together is why ’Of Mice and Men’ is a classic. • Thank you for listening and we hope you learned some interesting things! • 
