STUDENTS WE ARE IMPLEMENTING A COMBINATION OF ALGEBRA I AND IMP I FOR ALL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AN ALGEBRA I COURSE FOR THE 2000-2001 SCHOOL YEAR FROM GRADES 8-12
TEACHERS FOR THIS PROGRAM TO BE SUCCESSFUL, TEACHERS MUST CREATE A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS FORM OF LEARNING AND MUST UNDERGO EXTENSIVE INSERVICING
ADMINISTRATORS OUR ADMINISTRATION MUST BE WILLING TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO TEACHERS AND RESOURCES NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM
PARENTS THE PARENTS OF OUR STUDENTS MUST UNDERSTAND THE REASONS FOR IMPLEMENTING IMP AND THE IMP CLASSROOM SO THAT THEY MAY PROVIDE SUPPORT AT HOME
WHY CHANGE THE CURRICULUM? • IMPROVED TEST SCORES • PREPARATION FOR THE WORKFORCE OF THE 21ST CENTURY • CREATES A POSITIVE LEARNING ATMOSPHERE IN A MATH CLASSROOM • EXPOSURE TO MATH TOPICS NOT USUALLY TAUGHT IN A TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL SEQUENCE
TEST SCORES OPEN-ENDED PROBLEMS ARE NOW PART OF THE PSSA TESTING , REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION FOR THE CLASS OF 2003, AND IMP PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH PRACTICE ON SUCH PROBLEMS

DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING STUDENTS CAN WORK ON THE SAME PROBLEMS IN A VARIETY OF WAYS AND IN VARYING DEGREES OF DEPTH WHICH ALLOWS FOR HETEROGENEOUS CLASSES

COOPERATIVE LEARNING TEACHERS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE STUDENTS SIT IN GROUPS OF FOUR AND MOST CLASS ACTIVITY IS CENTERED IN THE GROUP AND NOT THE TEACHER
