Ailurophile • (n.) a person who likes cats; cat fancier • Originated 1925 – 30 from the Greek aílouro “cat,” + the suffix –phile (from a group of suffixes used to specify attraction or affinity to something, particularly love or obsession. Antonymic to -phob) • After stepping into the woman’s house and observing the massive amount of feline propaganda located therein, I concluded that she was an ailurophile.
Aleatory • (adj.) [Law] depending on a contingent event; of or pertaining to accidental causes; of luck or chance; unpredictable; [Music] employing the element of chance in the choice of tones, rests, durations, rhythms, dynamics, etc. • Originated 1685 – 95; From the Latin āleātōrius, equivalent to āleātōr- (stem of āleātor meaning “gambler” [from āle meaning “game of chance” + ātor]) + -ius which is an adj. suffix. • After one rolls the dice, the future is completely aleatory.
