Temporary Government • 1st Texas Congress was convened on October 3, 1836. • The Newly elected government began work on creating new Texas laws on October 22, 1836. • New President & Vice-President • President: Sam Houston • Vice-President: Mirabeau Lamar
President Houston October 22, 1836 – December 10, 1838 • Commander-in-Chief of the Texas Army. • Moved the Capital from Columbiato Houston. • In favor of Annexation of the United States
