  2. Where did it start? • East Midlands Platform for Health and Wellbeing • Initial introduction of two organisations was via the platform • PHT Funding • Health Belief • Men Aged 20-40 in employment • Leicester area

PHT Funded Cook Well, Work Well Course • Pepsico “Biggest Loser Program” Launched Jan – April 2012 • 3 x 5 hour workshops spread over 3 months (May, June, July 2012) • Focus on fat, sugar and salt reduction • Portion Control, Food Labelling • Cooked a range of healthy breakfast, • lunch and dinner recipes • Small pledges - behaviour change • Weight loss / positive lifestyle

  4. Pepsico Health and Safety - 48 Hour Event • October 2012 Health and Safety Event- “spreading the message” • Let get Cooking delivered live cookery demonstrations and Cook Well Work Well activities at the 48 hour event

  5. The Event Let’s Get Cooking was the main attraction! We made hundreds of pancakes!

What next… • Over 100 PepsiCo staff have registered their interest for more Cook Well Work Well courses in the workplace • We have been asked to deliver a presentation to the European Health and Wellbeing Manager about Cook Well Work Well • PepsiCo are interested in us rolling out the course to more employees in 2012 • We are delivering a Cook Well Work Well Team Building Day in November 2012 to PepsiCo staff

  9. Evaluation Results • Overall the average ‘healthy’ score of ‘healthy’ items increased from 13 to 18. This was accompanied by a decrease over the same time in the ‘unhealthy’ score from 9 to 5. • Seven of the eight participants had a greater positive difference in favour of an improved diet. • A well validated, but simple, measure of mental well-being provided evidence that after taking part in the Cook Well, Work Well programme participants’ scores had significantly increased suggesting that learning new skills and eating more healthily was associated with an improvement in their self-esteem or self confidence.
