Training Ideas – What may people need help with? www.btdigitalchampions.com
Preparing to Train – Before the Session • Create a login at www.btdigitalchampions.com using a code supplied by your teacher (starting DC) Please ensure you register as a STUDENT not as a teacher or your hours will not count. • Think about the type of things people may need help with. There are fact sheets on the website to help if you need some ideas or you can ask your trainee: (Enjoying Music; Family History; Reading the News; Shopping; Using Skype and lots more) www.btdigitalchampions.com • Consider how the trainee may be feeling about learning something new
Preparing to Train – During the Session • Ask questions – what are they interested in eg: facebook; shopping; what’s on in the community; news etc • Set goals – what do you plan to cover during the hour • 6 Steps for Training • Prepare • Listen • Demonstrate • Explain • Watch • Ask • Time Management and check pace is not too fast or slow
After Training • Log in to www.btdigitalchampions.com and record your training. (If you haven’t created a login please create a STUDENT login) Without this there is no record of your work as a BT Digital Champion. • On the record remember to tell us how the training went and what you did. • Ask the trainee to complete an online survey to say how they found the training session (this is not compulsory but we would love to hear their views) Good Example: “I showed her how to upload photos to facebook, and change her privacy settings. It was the first time she had done it. I enjoyed training.” Poor Example: “It went well.”
