External Training Coming Up OPSC External Training Kick Off Meeting The Office of Public School Construction will be conducting an informational meeting on the topic “External Training”. The OPSC will be going over the following trainings planned for 2011 which include: • Financial Hardship • How to Apply for School Facilities Funding, Part I: Submitting a Complete Application • How to Apply for School Facilities Funding, Part II: New Construction Eligibility and Funding
List of Future Training Topics • How to Apply for School Facilities Funding, Part IV: Plan Verification Team • How to Apply for School Facilities Funding, Part V: Site Acquisition • The meeting will emphasize better communication and collaboration, and solicit input on how the training and collaboration can be enhanced. • The OPSC will also host a group panel discussion on the future of public school construction bonds. • Please join us on November 15, 2010 (time TBD) for a live presentation at DGS Ziggurat Auditorium and open Q&A session.

SB 1413 (Leno) • Adds the following provisions under Education Code Section 38086: “…a school district shall provide access to free, fresh drinking water during meal times in the food service areas of the schools..., including, but not necessarily limited to, areas where reimbursable meals under the National School Lunch Program or federal School Breakfast Program are served or consumed.” • Effective July 1, 2011 • Contact Robin Corboni, CDE Child Nutrition Consultant, School Nutrition Programs Unit at rcorboni@cde.ca.gov or 916-322-3195
