Notes #4 Understanding Mass1. What is Mass? Mass is: How much matter or “stuff” is in solids, liquids or gases.

3. What is the tool for measuring mass? • ATRIPLE-BEAM BALANCE (tbb)
4. What units are used for a Triple-Beam Balance? • Triple-Beam Balances measure mass in GRAMS (g).
5. How do we use a Triple-Beam Balance? 1) MAKE SURE THE RIDERS ARE SET TO ZERO
Step 2a: • Place object on the pan.
Step 2b: • Move 100 g slider • Stop when it tips the balance. • Move slider back 1position.
Step 2c: • Move 10 g slider . Stop when it tips the balance, move slider back 1 position Step 2d: • Do the same thing for the 1g slider
