Calculations Similar to bend fixture we have. Dial will be replaced with hard stop placed a known distance away. Our end posts are movable! Gage The MDL three point bend fixture is: 9" x 18" x 10" tall
Stainless steel strips from McMaster to be used as 1st attachment surface 2” 8”
Use QPS racetrack coil #1 for 3rd attachment surface. Epoxy = CTD 403 QPS Racetrack Coil #1 1 ft Cut out a long section of QPS coil #1 (4 turn coil encapsulated in CTD 403), which is no longer needed. The specimen can then be placed in the bend fixture.
Glue Methods and Surfaces Glues / adhesives • UV light glue: Arrived • Stycast 2850 FT black. Arrived • Vishay M series AE-10 room cure cryo epoxy - Arrived • CTD 540 – Order pending trials of other epoxies ($600 min order) • Weld-able gages (purchased three, awaiting receipt) Surfaces • 316 stainless steel strips (1/16” thick), smooth and rough RMS values. • G-10 strips (1/32” thick) • QPS coil #1 (approx 1” X 1” X12” long). CTD 403 is the outer surface. If NCSX has something similar to this coil, please send.
Scenario • Once Dip testing is complete and we are confident the gages will operate and stick at LN2…and glue method is chosen, a fatigue test will be conducted on the winning adhesive/gage combination at LN2.
