FI • November, 2002 Kutztown University (and 4 other universities) goes live with SAP FI. Actual go live date was 3 weeks after announced date. • To date everyone in PASSHE has implemented SAP FI except for Millersville, West Chester, IUP, and Edinboro.
FI, Cont. SAP FI Impacts: -Account combinations are now 26 digits instead of 9. -Reporting is better, still lags behind legacy system. -Resource contention is problematic at times. -System needs to be improved for users. Much functionality not implemented.
SAP HR • In January, 2004 SAP HR goes live at all 15 PASSHE universities, 6 mos. after the announced date. • System problems continue, particularly in the area of student payroll. An application developed by a programmer at Mansfield University is being offered by SyTEC as the solution to the SAP student payroll problems.
SAP Campus Management • In April of 2004, PASSHE representatives visited ‘Old Miss’ university to get a demonstration of SAP Campus Management. • An SAP CMS blueprint was developed over a period of 8 months and finalized in February of 2005. • Phase 1 universities include California, Cheyney, ESU, Kutztown, LockHaven, Shippensburg, and Slippery Rock.
SAP CM, Cont. • Anticipated go live date is Fall 2008 • Many systems currently integrated in the KU system will not be included • Ancillary systems project • Web portal to services • All universities doing business the same way.
SAP glossary • SAP - Systems, Applications, Products – a German company. • R3 – the previous release of the SAP software we were using. • Enterprise – the current release of the SAP software. • FI – Finance • FM-Budget • MM- Materials Management (Purchasing) • HR – Human Resources • CM – Campus Management • CMS- Campus Management System – the set of modules offered by SAP to implement the core business of a university. • SyTEC –System Technology Consortium • Blueprint – Detailed specifications describing how software should function.
Ancillary Systems Project Gil Gingrich, Enterprise Systems Analyst and Integrator
