  1. Welcome Back to School! Ms. Leal’s Room 2 Where learning is the focus…

  2. “When you have hope for tomorrow, You have the power to change today.”

  3. Expectations My goal is to have EVERY student in EVERY class walk the line and promote this year! This means that all students need to stay on top of their game, get their work done in class, finish all homework, and read their AR book! With the new Block Schedule it is imperative to attend school every day!

  4. CHAMPS CHAMPS is a school wide expectation! The overall goal of the CHAMPs classroom management system is to develop an instructional structure in which students are responsible, motivated, and highly engaged in the specific task at hand. More particularly, my goal is to teach students directly how to be successful in specific class situations.

  5. Blackstock Code of Conduct • Students will: • BE on time • BE prepared and follow directions. • BE dressed according to school uniform policy. • DO assignments • RESPECT the rights and property of others. • BE courteous. • RESPECT authority.

  6. Courtesy is an EXPECTATION; abusive language or obscene gestures are not acceptable!

  7. We are responsible for the culture we create around us. It’s easy to dictate effectiveness, but it is another thing to lead effectiveness...

  8. Ms. Leal’s Classroom Code of Conduct • Students will: • Be Honest- do your own work and let others do theirs! • Participate-Time flies when you are making an effort! All unfinished class work becomes homework! • Be Cool, Be Kind- Give respect to everyone and everything. Raise your hand and wait to be called on to speak. • Be Prepared, and Be on Time- Bring all required materials to class. The school attendance policy will be enforced.

  9. Willful Disobedience, Defiance, and Disrespect towards Adults at School: • You are expected to comply with all reasonable requests and to follow directions when you are asked to do so by school personnel.

  10. CHOICES • CHOICES: 1. the act of choosing; selection 2. the chance, right, or power to choose, usually by the free exercise of one’s judgment; option 3. an alternative • CONSEQUENCES: 1. a result of an action, process, etc.; outcome, effect 2. a logical result or conclusion; take the consequences-to accept the results of one’s actions • RULE: 1. an authoritative regulation for an action, conduct, method, procedure, arrangement, etc. (the rules of school)

  11. A FEW TIPS FOR SURVIVAL IN MS. LEAL’S CLASSROOM: • Plan your studying like you are getting ready for the big game. • Earlier is better than later. • This is not entertainment, if you are bored; ask a question because you can’t change the channel! • Do your best! • IT’S YOUR CHOICE, BUT CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES, GOOD AND BAD.

  12. HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK All of the assignments are online. If you are absent or aren’t keeping up with the rest of the group, you can always go to the school website, staff, Leal, and finish what you have started! There is no excuse for missing work! Ms.Leal http://www.huensd.k12.ca.us/Domain/652

  13. COMPUTER USE AND ETIQUETTE The computers in this room are a privilege. If you abuse that privilege, you will no longer be entitled to enjoy the opportunity to learn with technology! NO EXCUSES! I will have ZERO tolerance for any vandalism, disrespect, or destroying of school property for anyone!!! We spend a lot of time here at school, respect your school and your community!

  14. AR READING Your child has an AR Reading Goal and should be reading every night! You can connect to the AR parent connect and check their progress at any time!

  15. Thank you! Thank you for attending 2014 Back to School Night! I look forward to working with all of you and making this a successful year for all of us! ~ Ms. Leal
