Crabgrass Frontier • What were the goals of federal housing policy in this era? • How did the HOLC and FHA craft their appraisal standards? • What was the impact of these appraisal, valuation, and construction standards? • What other factors may be contributing to the patterns that Jackson observes?

Take-home Midterm Assignment • Read through the passage at the top of the assignment sheet • Your assignment is to write a 4-5 page paper that answers four questions regarding this passage • Justify your answers, provide evidence and citations • Comprises 25% of your course grade • Due at the beginning of class next Tuesday
