Highlight of Current Activities (2) • The 2007-2008 TIA Standards and Technology Annual Report (PDF available at tiaonline.org ) 52-page summary of the committees and standards activities. • This year expanded to include the International activities administered by TIA. • Additional documents available include the 2008 TIA Industry Playbook highlighting ICT market and driving policies. • EIATRACK is a TIA Internet-based comprehensive environmental information service. Environmental intelligence and product-oriented regulatory tracking for Europe, Asia pacific, North America, and South America. • TIA’s vendor-neutral convergence certification program for individuals to validate standards-based knowledge in convergent technologies. Convergent Technology Professional (CTP) • TIA is host of the USA Pavilion for ITU Telecom Trade Shows • TIA unveiled the logo for Telephones that meet the latest hearing-accessibility Standard
Strategic Direction TIA • Seeks expansion of global markets for communications manufacturers and suppliers • Lobbies for appropriate regulation and removal of barriers to ubiquitous deployment of broadband networks • Promotes free-trade agreements • Advances technology neutrality • Facilitates going “green” using intelligent transportation systems, energy efficiency and other environmental concerns • Created new Standards Committees: • Vehicular Telematics (TR-48) and • Healthcare ICT (TR-49)
