    1. BSZ-TAA to TAE Transition A Personal Perspective: as a trainer, assessor & RTO Must we hold the TAE40110? A large training industry is emerging, convincing us we must hold TAE40110 Tens of thousands of trainers & assessors unsure whether to: Fight the fight (ie comply with NQC directive); Or simply ‘comply’ – get TAE40110 cheaply/quickly How to avoid ‘commodotisation’ of TAE40110?

    2. BSZ-TAA to TAE Transition Statement from VETAB Auditor: During re-registration audit, late 2010 “Of course you will need to upgrade to the new TAE40110 by July 2012” Is this statement: ? True? ? Partially true? ? False? ? Disingenuous?

    6. BSZ-TAA to TAE Transition Trainers must: (i) hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package or (ii) be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies to the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package or (iii) work under the direct supervision of a person who has the competencies specified in (i) or (ii) above* Assessors must: (i) hold the following three competencies from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package: (a) TAEASS401A Plan assessment activities and processes (b) TAEASS402A Assess competence (c) TAEASS403A Participate in assessment validation or (ii) be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies to all three units of competency listed in (i).

    7. Questions and discussion How to demonstrate ‘equivalent competencies’? How to prevent kneejerk upgrade to TAE40110 marketed as ‘regulatory’ compliance? Many BSZ/TAA holders have equivalent competence; IBSA suggest resources may be better spent in developing skills at the Diploma level, rather than kneejerk upgrade; and/or Time may be better spent developing vocational competence? Developing RPL tools for TAE40110? Develop templates for BSZ/TAE holders - who have relevant continued professional development - to clearly demonstrate ‘equivalent competencies.’ Inform stakeholders of ‘equivalence’ provision BSZ-TAA to TAE Transition
