Theory of Continental Drift* The 7 major continents were once all part of one piece of land (a supercontinent) called Pangaea. Over a long period of time (millions of years), the plates on the lithosphere were shifted apart from each other.
Evidence of Continental Drift* Fossils – Similar fossils found on different continents. Climate – Climate change shows tropical plants in Greenland and glacial streaks in South Africa. Rocks – Similar rocks and formations on different continents.
