MEET OAXACA EATING Saira Osorio Gómez Marco Antonio Taboada Baltazar Traslate: Angel Osorio Gómez
Close to Oaxaca´s downtown, at “Miguel Cabrera” street, between “Mina” and “Aldama”, we can find the entrace to the “Roasted Meats” hall on the “20 de Noviembre” Market.
This market was inagurated 50 years ago, and the “Roasted Meats” hall was settled on “Aldama” street, but it was moved to the place where it´s today 15 years ago.
Inside the market you´ll be able to find 23 stores from different Oaxaca´s towns, for example from: Zaachila, Nochixtlan, Xoxocotlan and Tlacolula. These stores offers you delicious meats: tasajo, cecina enchilada, chorizo, tripas de res and sometimes costilla enchilada.
A tradition of this hall is that where you buy the meat, you can get it roasted on coal, and it´s given you on a “canasta”
You can enjoy all these things with “guacamole”, “pico de gallo”, “cebollines”, “chiles de agua”, “rabanos”, “nopales asados”, “tortillas” and sodas. All this is bought separated, whether at the place where you buy the meat or with the people who sell verdures at the hall´s end.
Come and meet the “Roasted Meat” hall, everyday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.
RECOMMENDATIONS • You are free to chose the meat´s store or verdures that you´d like to buy. • Before you solicit the table service, ask for information about this. • If you want the restaurant service, you can go inside the market. • The sale people are not allowed to obligate you to buy aliments in a determinated place. • If you have a verbal or physical aggression for someone of the sale people please report it to the administration of the market.
We appreciate the attetion given to this work to: Carnes asadas “LETY”. Legumbres “LUPITA”. And to the administration of the “20 de Noviembre” market.
