Rewrites • Must • RW grade or • C- or below • May • anybody • but grade is not guaranteed to go up • Rewrite due date • 11/9 • Must submit original graded assignment • and new hard copy • As well as to turnitin.com • Grading • (2 * rewrite_grade + original_grade) / 3 • example: Rewrite = A, Original = C- • (2*4 + 1.67) / 3 = 3.22 = B / B+

Problems • Review model • start with a question • how well does it work? • describe all the features • evaluative statement • "4 stars" • this is not what we are doing • Informality • contractions • slang • gamer terminology • Spell checker illiteracy • "loose the game" • "assault riffle" • "no fighting aloud"

Problems, cont'd • Structure • 2 page paragraphs • Brain dump • Each paragraph should contribute 1 thing to the argument • know what that thing is • allow yourself to cut • References • the handout's specifications are not suggestions • they are requirements • follow them carefully, not approximately

  8. Advice • Write your introduction and thesis last • only then will you know what you're talking about • Read your paper out loud to yourself • you will catch a lot of awkwardness • you will see the big picture of your argument
